5 Steps of building a responsive Email list for your business
Have issues building
your email list,
Email list building
is the life blood of every online business and it’s just not any email list but
responsive quality email list.
When I first started
by business, I struggled getting a quality responsive email list and it got me
worried
Email marketing is
the best way to build a massive follower you can market to any time, any day
So, if you too are
struggling with building and growing an email list, then firstly, I want you to
know that it’s quite normal, you are not alone.
There are a series of
steps that you can follow to breakthrough and grow a high-quality email list.
Let's say you run an
online store or service business…
But instead of
running your Facebook Advertising directly to your offer.
You run it on a lead
generation funnel system
Using this lead
generation system, they give you their contact (Email preferably)
Some would buy, while
some won't.
Those who buy are
your instant buyers…
But those who don't,
are already in your pre-buyer's list.
Because using a lead
generation system, you've gotten their contact.
…And they are now
yours for life…
You get them to
know more about your business by sending daily messages.
Now, there's
something else…
These messages aren't
just sales messages…
They are hypnotic
emails that'll capture the mind of your prospects in your email list.
Email is still one of
the best ways to promote all your digital marketing strategies, giving you a
direct line of communication with your target audience.
Don’t forget that
people have provided their email address voluntarily, so they have an interest
in your product, service, or blog content.
Email marketing is as
current as ever. Take advantage of all the automation tools and discover the
true potential of building your email marketing list.
When you follow these
steps, you’ll be well on your way to building a valuable and strategic
marketing asset for your business.
Step 1: Getting the
right audience
Getting the right
audience has always being one of the challenges of online marketers.
When building an
email list, ensure that you’re building a list of people that have interest in
your product or services
With your product in
mind, it’s time to develop a lead magnet that’s of value to the types of
clients who will want to buy your product/ service.
A lead magnet is a
free gift or some other piece of value that you’re going to exchange in return
for someone’s email address.
It could be a
downloadable PDF checklist or guide, a free training or coaching, a trial
offer, or a discount to mention both a few.
When putting together
your lead magnet, try to include your specialty in the lead magnet title or
offer if possible.
This approach will
reinforce what you want to be known for and will resonate with precisely the
type of clients you would like to add to your email list.
Step 2
Identify what the
main pain point or problem your dream clients are currently struggling with
right NOW.
The closer you can
get to where your dream clients are now, the better your message will resonate.
As much as possible
let your lead magnet, provide a valuable solution that will help your audience take
the first step to solve that main pain point you’ve identified.
If you want to
improve your email open rate, then you need to focus on the topics you’re
writing about and the subject lines you’re using.
If you want to
improve your click-through rates, then look at what call to actions you’re
using.
And finally, if you
want to grow your list and reduce unsubscribes, then focus on creating relevant
and engaging content that will make your followers want to hear from you.
Step 3: Create a
simple and easy-to-follow lead magnet
Your lead magnet
should be something your subscriber needs or wants, and they must be willing to
exchange it for their email address.
Your lead magnet
depends on the type of business or product you are offering
Eg: 10-step guide
that gives people the steps or process they need to follow (and in what order)
so they can move forward
My tip here is not to
make it too complicated or to include too many steps that it will take them
weeks or months to complete.
Your checklist or guide
just needs to stay high level and be quick and easy to follow.
Step 4: Invest in the right tools and systems
Once you’re ready to
set up your lead magnet, you must invest in a proper email marketing system so
that you can maximize your email list conversions.
There are three email
autoresponders that I recommend Getresponse, constantcontact and activecampaign
Depending on the plan
level you choose, you will have access to use the forms and landing pages
within your email system to collect email addresses.
Or you could also use
website tools such as LeadPages and Optin Monster to increase your conversions
once you have a lot of traffic visiting your site.
Step 5: Develop a plan to promote yourself
The final step in
your email list building strategy is to plan how you will promote yourself and
your lead magnet.
You’ll want to have
your lead magnet prominently displayed on your website so that anyone who
visits your site will see it.
If you have a content
marketing strategy, you’ll also want to include your lead magnet as a content
upgrade within your blog articles.
My tip here is to
include links to your lead magnet at the top, middle, and bottom of your blog
posts so that it will still be viewed even if people don’t scroll to the bottom
of your blog
With your social
media posts, you’ll want to create graphics and captions to promote your lead
magnet.
I recommend creating
a few different posts to see what works and resonates with your audience.
Then, once you’ve
tested what works, you can boost the traffic to your lead magnet landing page
by running paid ads to it on Facebook or Pinterest.
